Half A Sixpence the Musical Tickets

Noel Coward Theatre, London

The iconic musical Half A Sixpence returns to the West End for the first time in 50 years, in a fresh adaptation which received stunning acclaim from critics in Chichester. Co-produced by the Chichester Festival Theatre and Cameron Mackintosh, this revival of the musical adaptation of H.G. Well’s semi-autobiographical novel ‘Kipps: The Story Of A Simple Soul’ sees the entire Chichester Festival Theatre cast transfer to the Noël Coward Theatre, including newcomers Charlie Stemp and Devon-Elise Johnson alongside the Olivier Award-nominated duo Ian Bartholomew and Emma Williams. Set at the turn of the last century, Arthur Kipps, an orphan and over-worked draper’s assistant, surprisingly inherits a vast fortune. His newfound wealth propels him from rags to riches and into the realms of high society, where he is made over in a new image by the classy Helen Walsingham. But will Arthur abandon his roots - and childhood companion Ann Pornick – or will he learn that to live the right life, you need to make the right choices? Reuniting the Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes (creator of Downton Abbey) with George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, the musical team behind the stage adaptation of Mary Poppins, the score features several of composer David Heneker’s original beloved songs, including “Flash Bang Wallop”, “Money To Burn” and “Half A Sixpence.” A classic musical leant a refreshing and exuberant take, Half A Sixpence is an exciting revival not to be missed.
